Members will vote to elect Elders and Deacons
at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 7pm

"If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task." - 1 Tim. 3:1

Leadership in the church is tasked with the care and safeguarding of the flock of God, via spiritual oversight and guidance as well as meeting physical needs. Elders serve the former and delegate the latter to deacons. This is appropriately described by Paul (and the Holy Spirit) as a noble task. As such, the selection of leadership is crucial to the proper functioning of the body. Below are the individuals who were identified by the nominating committee, as prescribed in our constitution, and who agreed to serve in their respective capacities.

Elder Nominee: Eric Luppold

I was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, but spent most of my childhood in Maryland. I had somewhat of an eclectic religious upbringing. I was baptized as an infant in a Lutheran Church, occasionally attended Catholic Mass as a young boy, was confirmed at age 14 in a Methodist church, but ultimately was saved at age 16 in a Baptist church.

After high school, I attended Embry-Riddle University in Florida and, upon graduation, was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force. Although my faith stagnated during my college years, particularly after the sudden death of my step-father, the Lord drew me back to himself and I soon began to mature in my faith. I then met my wife Ranae, and we moved to Texas where I was trained to fly the B-1 bomber.

In Texas, we attended a mega-church and joined a small group. I also began meeting with the Air Force chaplain at my base who, through his Bible studies, led me to Reformed theology. After deploying for six months to Qatar, I came home and soon welcomed our firstborn, Aubrey, into the world.

Through a series of God-ordained events, I became an MQ-9 pilot and moved to Las Vegas after spending a few months in New Mexico. Ranae and I joined a house-church that eventually grew to about 50 members, and I served as an elder there for about two years. During that time, Arianna was born, but it was not long before we moved again.

Thankfully, the Lord provided me with the opportunity to continue as an MQ-9 pilot in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. And so, in 2014, we moved back to Pennsylvania and settled in Bucks County. Within a year, we joined Hilltown Baptist Church and welcomed our youngest child, Calvin, into the world. I then earned my Master of Divinity degree from Liberty University and served as an elder at HBC for six years.

I still work full-time in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard (19 years and counting), but do some podcasting and writing on the side. My wife, Ranae, serves as the director of the women's ministry, and together we strive to raise our three kids in the Lord. While I plan on continuing to help teach Sunday School, I greatly look forward to the opportunity to serve the people of HBC again as one of their elders.

Deacon Nominee: Anthony King

I grew up in Lower Bucks where I was raised in a christian home and heavily involved in my church, Calvary Baptist in Bristol. I was lucky enough and blessed to have Matt McAlack as my youth pastor, many of his lessons I still remember to this day. Although I was raised going to church and had professed my faith in Christ as a young boy, I still managed to revolt and ignore scripture. I was not walking with the Lord, to the point where I was living in unrepented sin for years, most of my late teens and early 20's. But by God's grace He didn't give up on me, He continued to work on my heart and draw me back to Him and bring me to repent. Now my walk with the Lord has never been stronger as I strive to continue to seek, know and love God.

I started coming to Hilltown by myself after I moved to Quakertown in 2021. Within less than a year of moving here I met my beautiful wife, Kylee and we were blessed this past November with the birth of our son, Silas. I have worked for SEPTA for almost 9 years now as a train mechanic. Before that I worked in new home construction wiring homes and I briefly co-owned a small general contracting business as well. I am the youngest of 6 kids and I have a love for hunting and being outdoors admiring all God has made.

I am currently serving as the head of Hilltown's Safety and Security team, it is a joy to greet the congregation on Sundays and to serve in this capacity. I look forward to the opportunity to take on a new role and serve our church family as a deacon.

Deacon Nominee: Herbert Nicolo Jr.

I’ve spent the past 32 years growing up here in Bucks County, Pennsylvania! One of the biggest blessings in my life began all the way back in grade school—that’s when I met Renee, who would eventually become my wife. Neither of us could have imagined what God had planned for us, but it’s been incredible to see His hand at work in our lives every step of the way.

After getting married in 2013, we began the search for a church home. In 2014, we found Hilltown Baptist Church—and from the moment we walked through the doors, we were welcomed with such warmth and love. It was clear to us that this was the place God had been leading us to. We officially became members in 2019 and have had the joy of serving in various ministries at HBC ever since!

God opened the door for Renee to join the church staff and serve in the office, and a little while later, He led me to serve as a Youth Leader for a few years. That experience eventually transitioned into my current role as a Small Group Leader—something I truly love and feel honored to be part of.

Serving has become such a joy in my life that it’s overflowed into my everyday work. I currently serve the community as a school bus driver for the Pennridge School District. It’s given me a unique opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a very real, daily way. I do my best to reflect His grace to my students, especially knowing how much pressure they face. It’s become a personal mission to create a safe and caring space for them every day.

Another meaningful way Renee and I have been called to serve is through fostering. We’re active foster parents, and it’s been an incredible opportunity to share Christ’s love with children and families in our local community. Through every season, we’ve seen God continue to shape us, grow us, and guide us to become more like Him.

Now, He’s made it clear that He’s calling me to serve His church in a new way. Being asked to serve as a Deacon Nominee is a humbling and exciting opportunity, and I’m looking forward to stepping into whatever God has planned next.

Deacon Nominee: Bryan Shinehouse

I grew up in Lancaster, PA and Chester Springs, PA for the first 30 years of my life. It was in Chester Springs that I began a personal, saving relationship with God through Jesus Christ. After I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cabrini College in 2009 and through my Masters Program at Villanova University in Public History from 2011-2014, I attended Calvary Chapel Chester Springs. It was here that I gained some of the most foundational lessons that made me who I am today.

These lessons include the importance of Godly, biblical teaching, strong community, and the importance of serving others. One particular way of serving that I did at Calvary Chapel that continues to this day is hospitality/kitchen help. In addition to cooking/baking, I also enjoy traveling to different National Park Service sites and studying history.

I currently live in Perkasie, PA with my wife, Brittany, and our cat, Smokey. We first came to Hilltown in 2021 when we were looking for a church to call home and a place that we could see ourselves a part of long term. My wife first heard of Hilltown through Renee Nicolo, and after discussing things further, we decided to give it a try. We immediately felt at home and felt like this was the right place for us.

Since coming to Hilltown, God has been working in our lives in practically every area. I believe our walks with God have never been better since coming to Hilltown and continue to grow. Our marriage has never been stronger as well. Through the sound, biblical teaching, tremendous love and support from our small group, and numerous opportunities to serve, we are extremely blessed to be a part of Hilltown and look forward to seeing what God has in store for us next.
