Biblical Counseling

Biblical counseling is counsel from the Bible, which we believe to be sufficient for everything that pertains to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3-4). It is akin to discipleship or sanctification. Whereas preaching is the public ministry of the Word, counseling is the private ministry of the Word. We believe in speaking the truth and in love.

FAQ

  • What Is Biblical Counseling?

Biblical counseling is counsel from the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16-17), which we believe to be sufficient for everything that pertains to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3-4). It is akin to discipleship or sanctification. Whereas preaching is the public ministry of the Word, counseling is the private ministry of the Word. We believe in speaking the truth and in love.

  • Is Biblical Counseling Anti-Science?

Biblical counseling is not anti-science.  The revelation of God comes in three forms -- nature, Scripture, and Jesus.  Truth revealed through Scripture is explicit, whereas truth revealed through nature is implied.  When science observes and communicates truth revealed in nature that is also in alignment with the truth of Scripture, we acknowledge its usefulness.

We also affirm that science is limited in its answers.
It cannot prove ethical, aesthetic, mathematical, logical, and philosophical truth. This does not mean it is useless, only that it is limited.

Consider an architect who provides a builder with blue prints and materials.  Without the blue prints, those materials are never likely to be assembled in the proper way.  God has provided us with blue prints (Scripture) to understand how the materials fit together.

  • Do You Have To Be A Christian To Get Counseling?

No.  Not at all.  Jesus ministered to both believers and unbelievers in the same way.

  • How Much Do You Charge?

Our regular rates vary from $70 to $90 per 55 minute session.  Financial assistance may be available.  Contact for details.  There is no charge for Hilltown Baptist Church members.

  • Do You Take Insurance?

We do not accept insurance.  You should ask your insurance carrier if you have any coverage for out-of-network counseling and/or non-licensed counseling.  Financial assistance may be available.
